The Big Day

The video was an advertisement for a car. It started out with a man driving a car and it appears that he is late for a wedding. When he finally gets there, he sees the bride marrying someone else. It was shocking to me because I personally thought that the guy driving the car was the groom and I guess that is what they wanted the car to appear to be.

Who: Bride (Ashly Tizdel), Man (Joe Joenas), Groom (Nik Joenes)
What: Driving to a wedding
When: 2008
Where: Arizona, a church & all over the country in the car
Why: Joe is getting married
How: By driving the car

The video starts out with very gloomy weather and it is on a road. There appears to be rain on the road and the man in the car drives past the road. He is stressed. Then it cuts to a scene where the bride is getting ready for her wedding. She looks happy. Then the car is back and it drives through a wet road in the forest. It shows the man's hand on the steering wheel. It shows the bride, kind of worried looking and then the man in the car, checking his watch. It shows an old man in the bride's room sitting down and he is getting anxious, checking his watch. The man in the car is on the wet road and there is a slow car in front of him, frustrated, he goes around it. They are in the desert or something. Then it shows the man in the room again looking stressed. The man in the car is shown driving on a beach and then over a bridge. It is less gloomy. He drives on a windy road. The bride looks out the window. The man in the car stops for a train. He is super frustrated. He finally gets to the church, it is sunny, he goes inside and sees the bride with another guy.

It was a Saturday morning, Joe Joenas woke up late and was running late for a wedding.

"I just forgot to set my alarm I guess," Joenas said.

Joe rushed to the wedding and faced many obstacles, like slow cars and having to stop at a railroad crossing.

"I hate trains," Joenas said, "They are way too slow."

Meanwhile, the bride, Ashly Tizdel, was getting ready for her wedding and was getting quite anxious.

"This was my second time getting married," Ashly said, "So of course I was nervous."

After what seemed like hours in the car, Joe finally got to the wedding.

"Thank God I wasn't late." Joe said.

Unfortunately, he was late; he entered the church right as the bride and the groom were saying their vows.

"I can't believe Joe just interrupted my wedding," Ashly said. "This has never happened before, it was so embarrassing."

Joe wasn't all too disappointed by his timing though.

"I'm glad I didn't completely miss the wedding, you know," Joe laughed, "I love my new car."

iMovie

1.     You can do multiple things with iMovie, like making a trailer, compiling pictures or editing a video. iMovie is an Apple program that allows you to make a movie basically. There are settings and different things you can do in order to create a video.
First, you must open up your video/pictures in iMovie. Then, you can make a video out of those pictures/clips. You can edit your video or even connect a video camera and use the footage from the camera. Then you edit your movie by rearranging the order of your clips.
2. I knew that you could edit videos using iMovie.
3. I didn't know you could get footage from cameras.
4. I'm worried about finding a good subject to take pictures of.
5. I would probably have pictures ready for this project.
6. I'd probably take pictures of my mom cooking dinner.

Portfolio Analysis

Travis Haughton's 2006 Student Portfolio
a. Travis Haughton
b. Photojournalism/stories
c. Awkward focus, needed captions, some pictures seemed posed & had awkward positions/subjects
d. Interesting pictures (had levels), nice moments
e. I liked the photographer, some pictures were nice but some were not visually appealing and were kind of awkward to look at because of the position the photographer was in to take the picture and because the subject was just awkward and not interesting.

Melissa Golden's 2006 Student Portfolio
a. Melissa Golden
b. Photojournalism/stories
c. Pictures are uneventful, busy, and subjects were out of focus
d. There was one very nice portrait, it was informative and allowed the viewer to know what was happening in one picture

Student of the Month

Jamie Council, a freshman, was named the Student of the Month for April.

“I was really surprised and happy when my teacher told me I won,” Council said.

In order to be able to win Student of the Month, students must first fill out an application and be nominated by their teachers.

“I nominated Jamie because of her ability to work hard and her hunger and passion to want to achieve more,” Jamie’s biology teacher, Cheryl Jones said.

Jamie works hard in school and is involved in several extracurricular activities in and out of school.

“I do color guard at school and I dance outside of school and help the little kids at my studio with their technique and routines sometimes,” she said.

In order to win this award, it is recommended that students put in extra work/hours, whether it be by studying for tests to better their grades or by volunteering outside of school and helping those in need.

“I volunteer every week at a soup kitchen in my neighborhood every Sunday with my family,” Council said, “I love seeing the look on people’s faces when I serve them food, it makes me really happy.”

Council also works hard in school, going in for tutoring when she needs to and helping her fellow classmates with schoolwork.

“Jamie goes in for tutoring a lot of the time and I think she does well on her tests and homework because she puts in the extra work,” Jamie’s English teacher, Jordan Sparks said.

Her family is immensely proud of her success and hopes that her brother will be able to win this award some time in the future.

“One of the reasons I wanted to win this award so much was so that I could make my family proud of me and also because no one in my family, including my older brother has ever won this award so I wanted to be the first in my family to win,” she said.

The Student of the Month award was put in place in hopes that students would work harder because there is something to accomplish.

“After this award was put in place, I think I definitely worked harder in school to be able to win this award and I will continue to work hard,” Jamie said.

Nut Graf

A Nut Graf is used in journalism, especially for hard news. It is essentially a summary of the story. The purpose of a Nut Graph is to basically show the reader why they should care about what they are going to read and acts like a transition from the lead to the other paragraphs.
A Nut Graf is short for a nut paragraph, so it's the story in a nut. It gives the reader insight into the story through commentary, quotes, etc. It allows the reader insight into what went on, the highlights and why the story is important.

Prompt Shoot Review

http://priscilladiazz.blogspot.com

1. I liked the connected picture because it looks really nice and visually appealing. I like how there are leading lines and balancing elements and also how there is a pop of yellow because that makes the photo more interesting to look at.

2. My least favorite image is footprints because nothing is happening. It's just a picture of a picture of a paw print.

3. Overall, her pictures were really nice and visually appealing. I like how she applied the rules of photography too.

4. She could work on finding better subjects to take a picture of because the footprints one is pretty boring.

5. I think she did the best portraying connected because it's just a nice looking picture and I can see how it relates to the prompt.

6. I think she was the least successful portraying footprints because it's just a picture of a picture.
